TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Loans
- All loans are for 3 weeks, renewable once only. You can renew by e-mail/phone and online at: http://afdublin.opac3d.fr/
- You can borrow all at once: 3 fiction / non-fiction books and 2 CDs or audio books and 2 films and 2 graphic novels and 2 textbooks. NB: 1 textbook = textbook + exercise book + resource.
- Please swith all digital devices to silent.
- Bottled drinks and takeaway cups with lids are tolerated.
- Free WIFI for our members.
- Headsets are available.
Conditions
- Items borrowed are for the personal use of the borrower only, and remain the responsibility of the borrower until they are returned to the library. Parents and guardians are responsible for any loans to their children.
- Please that the most recent issue of magazines and periodicals may be read within the library, but may not be borrowed.
- When the library is closed, borrowed items can be deposited in the Returns Box located outside the library entrance on the first floor.
- Under no circumstances can library material be left at the Alliance Française reception desk.
Penalties
- A fine of €1 is applicable per item per day.
- Fines must be paid immediately and in full; and any unpaid fines will remain on the borrower’s account to be settled on their next visit to the library.
- Borrowers are responsible for all the items they borrow. Members will be charged the cost of lost or damaged items.
- Repeated refusal to respect the library’s regulations on borrowing may lead to a temporary or even a permanent suspension of borrowing privileges and access to the library.
WiFi
- Access to the WiFi network is reserved for members of the library in possession of a valid membership card.
- The password for the network is available from the librarian at the desk, and is valid for up to three hours. Each password is valid for a single use only.
- The library staff reserve the right to sever the connection of anyone using the network to access sites with illegal content, sites which go against the ethos and aims of the Alliance Française Dublin, or sites which do not respect the restrictions imposed by intellectual property law. The library staff may also sever the connection of anyone who refuses to respect the general rules of the library.
GENERAL REGULATIONS
All Alliance Française members will be admitted to the library and allowed to borrow items from the collection upon the production of a valid membership card.
Other visitors will be allowed to use the library’s resources provided they obtain the necessary authorisation from a librarian first, but they will not be able to borrow from the collection.
The library staff endeavour to provide an atmosphere conducive to study, reading and the legitimate use of materials and services. With that aim in mind, eating, drinking, using mobile phones, sleeping and loitering in the library are all strictly prohibited.
Library staff are not responsible for unaccompanied children.
The library takes no responsibility for personal items brought into and left in the library.
Reproduction of any audio or video material is strictly prohibited.
Disregarding any of the regulations above may lead to the termination of borrowing privileges and/or being barred from the library.
